A very unstable atmosphere developed over central and parts of western North Dakota where dewpoint values climbed into the 70s. A dryline moved into the area with thunderstorms rapidly developing, many becoming severe. Large hail was the primary threat, with reports of golf ball size hail in Wells, Burleigh, and Hettinger Counties. There were a few severe wind reports, with the strongest reported wind gust of 69 mph occurring in Kidder County.
