Event narrative

The National Gridded Snowfall Analysis indicated storm totals of 6 to 20 inches at elevations above 4500 feet. Precipitation amounts measured included: 3.10 inches at Fourmile Lake, 2.03 inches at Howard Prairie Dam, and 3.30 inches at Sevenmile Marsh.

Wider weather episode

A frontal system moved into southern Oregon and northern California on 3/15 then became nearly stationary, oriented from northeast to southwest across the area, from 3/16 into 3/17. Additional snow showers behind the main system lingered into 3/18. The heaviest snow occurred during 3/16.
