A strong ridge remained centered over the mid and lower Mississippi River Valley and continued to bring oppressive heat to the region. Daytime heat indices exceeded 105 degrees nearly areawide, with some areas exceeding 110 degrees. Nighttime temperatures remained in the mid to upper 70s and low 80s, resulting in little relief from the heat.
