Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions over west central Garden County persisted through the end of July. The cooperative observer at Lisco reported 2.88 inches of precipitation for July. This was 0.40 inches above the normal of 2.48 inches. The cooperative observer at Crescent Lakes NWR reported 3.15 inches of precipitation for the month. This was 0.38 inches above the normal of 2.77 inches. The cooperative observer at Oshkosh 8SW reported 2.24 of precipitation for the month. This was 0.79 inches below the normal of 3.03 inches. The cooperative observer at Oshkosh reported 2.45 inches of precipitation in July. This was 0.30 inches below the normal of 2.75 inches. The cooperative station at Oshkosh 10NE reported 1.05 inches of precipitation in July.

Wider weather episode

Normal to above normal rainfall, coupled with average temperatures, led to improvements in drought conditions across most of western and north central Nebraska in July. Drought conditions remained unchanged across the eastern Nebraska Panhandle, as well as portions of Hayes and Frontier Counties.
