Severe (D2) drought conditions over the eastern quarter of Logan County, improved to moderate (D1) drought by the end of July. The cooperative observer at Stapleton 5W reported 4.17 inches of precipitation for July. This was 1.10 inches above the normal of 3.07 inches.
Wider weather episode
Normal to above normal rainfall, coupled with average temperatures, led to improvements in drought conditions across most of western and north central Nebraska in July. Drought conditions remained unchanged across the eastern Nebraska Panhandle, as well as portions of Hayes and Frontier Counties.
