Ahead of the line of thunderstorms, winds gusted to 51mph at MACM4, Mackinaw City Buoy, at 01:24. Winds continued to gust above 40mph through the next half hour across northern Lake Huron, reaching 44mph at 01:55 at KSLH, Cheboygan County Airport, and 42mph at 01:54 at DTLM4 DeTour Village buoy.

The wider storm

A line of decaying storms crossed the region during the very early morning hours on the 29th, resulting in gusty winds in excess of 45mph across Northwest Lower Michigan toward the Straits.
