A trailing wake trough from Hurricane Erin combined with high moisture, diurnal instability, slow storm motion and an approaching mid-level trough produced isolated strong storms with gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Storm wind gusts of 45-55 mph occurred in the afternoon.
