Event narrative

A thunderstorm wind gust knocked a tree down just north of Hwy 5 on the east side of Waconia.

Wider weather episode

A frontal boundary slowly progressed south during the afternoon and early evening hours. Scattered instances of severe wind gusts were witnessed in conjunction with storms that developed along the boundary. The most concentrated damage was reported across Meeker, Stearns, and Sherburne counties.
