Berkeley County Emergency Management reported that a lightning strike caused a house fire at a home on Hydra Lane.

Numerous clusters of thunderstorms started developing across southeast South Carolina in the early afternoon hours and gradually spread eastward through the late afternoon. These storms produced damaging wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning, heavy rainfall, and even a weak tornado.
