Dorchester County Emergency Management reported that a lightning strike started a structure fire in the 100 block of Hammock Street.

Wider weather episode

Numerous clusters of thunderstorms developed across interior southeast South Carolina starting in the mid afternoon hours. These storms steadily progressed eastward through the late afternoon producing damaging wind gusts and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes.
