Standing water was reported covering the road in front of the Virginia Diner in Wakefield.

A lee surface trough was situated across the Mid-Atlantic on July 8. Loosely organized storms developed in the afternoon, persisting into the evening hours. A few storms became strong in central and southeast Virginia with a hot and humid airmass in place, resulting in localized flash flooding.
