The SW Pass Pilot Station measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 40 mph or 35 knots.

Wider weather episode

A weak surface boundary lingered across the northern Gulf on July 23, 2025, supporting scattered strong thunderstorms over the coastal waters and Mississippi Sound. Several marine observing sites measured strong wind gusts, including 40 mph at the Southwest Pass Pilot Station, 45 mph south of Sand Island, 43 mph at Petit Bois Island, and 53 mph at Keesler AFB. The strongest gust was 59 mph, measured by the Weatherflow mesonet on Ship Island.
