Funnel Cloud — Waseca, Minnesota

2025-07-23 · near Alma City, Waseca, Minnesota

Event narrative

Funnel cloud lasted for roughly 5 to 10 minutes and never reached the ground.

Wider weather episode

Several clusters of storms moved from central South Dakota into Minnesota during the morning, then more widespread coverage of storms developed and persisted throughout much of the day. The main axis of heavy rainfall was tied to a slow moving boundary that started across central Minnesota in the morning and progressed towards southern Minnesota by the late evening.

While many locations saw heavy rainfall amounts and rainfall rates at times, two main spots reported flash flooding impacts. This included the city of Albany in Stearns County and the Skyline area just south of Mankato in Blue Earth County.

There was also an isolated funnel cloud report with a storm that moved through Waseca County that did not produce a tornado.
