High pressure over the region brought a period of hot and humid conditions to portions of northwestern Connecticut on July 29-30, 2025. Maximum heat index values (feels like temperatures) between 95 and 104 degrees were observed in some areas during the afternoon hours on one or multiple days. On July 30, 2025, a couple of thunderstorms developed ahead of an approaching cold front during the afternoon hours. One of the storms became severe resulting in downed trees and wires.
