Event narrative

Montana mesonet station Loma N.

Wider weather episode

A persistent moist and unstable southwesterly flow aloft across the interior west ushered in precipitable water in excess of an inch for the first of August. Flow through the column was rather slow, resulting in thunderstorms that were slow to move and became anchored to outflow boundaries. A few strong gusts were observed, with a few instances of minor flooding across portions of the region.
