A ridge of high pressure remained overhead with moisture gradually increasing underneath the high pressure, resulting in hot temperatures and daily afternoon showers and thunderstorms. With the dry low layers, strong gusty outflow winds were the main concern with one particular thunderstorm producing a peak wind gust of 58 mph at the Rifle Garfield County Airport.
