Large hail associated with a severe thunderstorm dropped hail the size of ping pong balls in Falmouth.

Wider weather episode

A surface cold front dropping down from Canada interacted with a very hot and unstable airmass in place across the state. Significant shear aloft allowed for some organized thunderstorms. The strongest severe storms brought a swatch of wind damage from York to Cumberland Counties.
