The county was upgraded to Severe (D2) drought conditions at the end of September. The eastern part of the county was upgraded to Extreme (D3) conditions.

Extended dry periods in August and September with minimal relief promoted the introduction of Severe (D2) drought into counties in southwestern Central Alabama by late month.
