Large quantity of hail with drifting noted.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms developed along a stationary front, situated over the central Sandhills, during the mid afternoon hours of August 3rd. This activity grew upscale, eventually forming a broken line of storms from southeastern Cherry into Arthur County. This activity persisted into the evening hours producing hail up to 2.25 inches in diameter and wind gusts to 60 MPH over Hooker County. A tornado briefly touched down west of Tryon with no damage reported.
