Thunderstorms developed along a cold front during the mid afternoon hours of August 9th. This front was oriented from northwestern Nebraska into the southern Nebraska Panhandle. Thunderstorms quickly grew upscale, becoming severe by late afternoon. Hail up to golf ball size was reported at Brownlee in Cherry County.
