Wider weather episode
On the afternoon of September 22nd, scattered thunderstorms developed across southeast Ohio in response to ample moisture and enough daytime heating to stir up convection. Strong to damaging wind gusts accompanied these storms as they swept through the area, resulting in downed trees across parts of Lawrence and Jackson Counties. The severe threat in southeast Ohio was fairly short, spanning less than an hour, as storms quickly traveled east of the Ohio River for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening before dissipating altogether.
