A deep, upper-level trough pushed multiple shortwaves towards the Mid-South during this time frame. Ahead of the main trough and embedded shortwaves, moisture surged into the region. High temperatures in the 90s combined with the increased moisture and limited convective coverage resulted in heat indices above 105 degrees during the afternoon hours each day.
