Heavy rain during the middle of August allowed the Upper Iowa River at Dorchester to rise into flood stage during the morning on August 18th. The site crested at 16.89 ft in minor flood stage during the evening on August 18th before falling below flood stage during the evening on August 19th.

Wider weather episode

Heavy rain throughout the middle of August contributed to rises along many area rivers in northeast Iowa. This included minor to moderate flooding along portions of the Little Cedar and Cedar Rivers, as well as the Upper Iowa and Turkey Rivers.
