The zone started out with Extreme(D3) drought over all but the far northern areas which were in Severe(D2) drought. By the end of the month, the west was in Extreme(D3) drought and the east was in Severe(D2) drought.

Wider weather episode

A one category improvement in drought conditions was noted across far west Texas as near normal precipitation in July helped with the Extreme(D3) drought conditions which continued for several months.
