There were two fatalities presumed heat related of a Male, 59 in the 97233 zip code and a Female, 58 in 97214 zip code. Emergency managers and health officials reported elevated Multnomah County 911 calls due to the heat and higher than normal hospital/urgent care heat related visits.

Wider weather episode

A robust area of high pressure over the eastern Pacific shifted towards Oregon August 10th, remaining overhead on the 11th before finally retrograding further west late on August 12th. High temperatures peaked in the 90s to near 100 each day during this period across the inland valleys combined with overnight lows in the 60s leading to exacerbated heat related impacts.
