Wider weather episode

An overnight mesoscale convective system developed over eastern South Dakota and southwest Minnesota early Saturday morning on August 16th. The bowing system grew in scale as it overspread portions of western and central Minnesota. There were several measured wind gusts over 60 mph, and even a couple over 70 mph in eastern Yellow Medicine county. Most of the wind damage reports of downed trees and powerlines were delayed and estimated using radar given that the storms moved through early in the morning.
