By the late morning hours, the storms outran their support leading to a quick drop in intensity as they reached Lake Superior and northwestern Wisconsin. Numerous reports of tree damage were received from the Brainerd Lakes area into Aitkin and St. Louis counties. A lightning strike at a cemetery damaged headstones as well.
