A thunderstorm produced wind gusts estimated at 65 mph that knocked down trees and peeled back the metal roof of a motel in Bandera.

Wider weather episode

A retreating mid to upper-level high allowed convection to develop with strong daytime heating in a moist airmass. Some of these storms produced damaging wind gusts and one tornado.
