Event narrative
An employee of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was struck by lightning when working outside near the New Fane hiking trail. The lightning strike was fatal.
Wider weather episode
Thunderstorms due to a cold front and upper level disturbance produced large hail and damaging winds to portions of southeast WI. A lightning fatality also occurred to a man on a hiking trail in the Township of Kewaskum.
