Wider weather episode

On the morning of August 25th, an unusual amount of moisture was present across eastern Utah and western Colorado. While there was quite a bit of cloud cover present across western portions of the area, skies remained clear over the northern and central Colorado Divide mountains. This helped to develop instability early in the day, which combined with lift from a passing shortwave to trigger some strong thunderstorms during the morning. With the abundant moisture, these storms were heavy rain producers.
