Event narrative

Jackson County Dispatch reported a tree down on the 700 block of Green Hill Welchburg Road.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper level low over the Upper Mississippi River Valley dug into the Upper Great Lakes Region, before lifting northeast into southeastern Canada on June 9th. A mid-level jet streak slowly weakened as a cold front moved east across the Ohio River Valley during the afternoon. With surface temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s, dew points in the mid 60s, and CAPE values of 1000-2000 J/kg, this extra lift was enough to initiate a line of strong storms along of the cold front. A few of these storms resulted in damaging wind gusts as they moved through Jackson County, KY.
