Wider weather episode

Low pressure tracking across the Great Lakes region swung a cold front through West Virginia on October 21st. With freezing levels lowered for this time of year, a small pocket of showers grew vertically into thunderstorms capable of producing large hail across northeast West Virginia. Just before 8 PM that evening, several reports from the public and trained spotters across Lewis and Barbour Counties observed hailstones on the order of 1 to 1.25 inches within these storms. Activity quickly moved out of the forecast area after this instance due to the progression of the cold front.
