The Stoner Mesa Fire started in late July due to a lightning strike 11 miles northeast of Dolores, Colorado to the northeast of Stoner, Colorado. The fire was initially out but re-emerged in early August and grew to 10,249 acres before it was contained in mid October. The estimated cost was $25,015,851. 693 structures were threatened but none were destroyed.
