Event narrative

A severe thunderstorm outflow boundary downed a large tree partially blocking Forest Rd. in East Alstead near Hill Pond Farm.

Wider weather episode

A hot and unstable airmass was in place on the evening of August 5th. A strong cap kept convection at a minimum, but one strong storm developed across Sullivan County and moved south before weakening. The storm had damaging winds and large hail.
