Wider weather episode
A slow moving system approached Kentucky from the west on the 17th. Abundant southerly flow increased moisture across our area. The slow moving nature of the trough and increased moisture advection led to the Storm Prediction Center issuing a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall across the area. These storms dropped substantial rainfall, and also resulted in gusty winds. Anticedent moisture conditions were already saturated due to rainfall the previous few days, which may have aided in the damage.
