Event narrative

A narrow, rope-link mature waterspout with a visible spray ring was observed offshore John Pennekamp State Park and reported via social media. The condensation funnel was titled at a 45-degree angle northeastward from the cloud base to the water surface. The waterspout moved toward the northeast around 10 knots.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms rapidly developed during the morning hours near Key Largo, producing isolated gale-force wind gusts and a waterspout. The thunderstorms quickly collapsed.
