A few 2 inch hailstones fell on the north edge of Sutherland.

The wider storm

An isolated thunderstorm developed along a slow-moving frontal boundary across northwest Iowa. Seasonally high instability (around 2000 J/kg MLCAPE) and weak shear led to very strong updrafts, producing large hail that caused significant damage to late season crops.

Began near Sutherland (42.9800, -95.5000).
