Event narrative

The 911 Call Center reported a fallen utility pole at Camino Concepcion Sanchez (Concepcion Sanchez Way) and blocking the roadway. Electrical cables were also reported as hanging and over the roadway. This incident occurred as the outer bands of Hurricane Erin moved onshore.

Wider weather episode

Major Hurricane Erin moved northeast and north of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Erin's Outer Bands and then Feeder Bands still affected the islands, producing strong thunderstorms, gusty winds, and heavy rains across the islands. Several reports of wind gust damage, along with reports of high surf, flooding and debris flow were received between August 16 to 18.
