ASOS station KNEW New Orleans Lakefront Airport measured a marine thunderstorm wind gust of 41 mph or 36 knots.

A typical summertime pattern was in place across the region, with intense daytime heating and abundant low-level moisture leading to the development of numerous afternoon thunderstorms. The storms were primarily outflow-driven, producing locally strong and gusty winds. A couple storms produced severe marine wind gusts.
