Event narrative
Multiple rounds of thunderstorms pass across portions of Carroll County and the City of Galax during the afternoon of the 19th, with rainfall rates occasionally spiking to nearly 6 inches per hour. Among the reports of flooding that occurred in this area, a small tributary of Chestnut Creek over flowed its banks and flooded several inches deep across a portion of Cliffview Road. Dixon Branch was also observed overflowing its banks across part of Fries Road. A portion of Hebron Road was flooded and became impassible for a short period of time by flooding of Little Cranberry Creek, and Mill Creek overflowed its banks across Glade Street. No damage was reported to the roads, which were open to traffic after the water receded.
