A brush fire was reported near the Manowaialee Forest Reserve and burned near the koa plantation. The fire burned through about 420 acres, and were reportedly exacerbated by severe drought conditions. High pressure north of the islands, low humidity and little rainfall helped contribute to the spread of the fire. No structures were destroyed and no evacuations were necessary.
