Due to abnormally dry conditions from September into early October, severe (D2) drought began to be observed across much of McKean County on October 7, 2025. A robust 1.5-2.5 of rainfall on October 30, 2025 resulted in some improvement.

After a dry August and September, D2 (severe) drought conditions appeared across north-central Pennsylvania in early October.
