Event narrative

Widespread roadway flooding was reported in the tidal areas of the county, and there were numerous road closures. Many homes and other buildings were surrounded by flood waters with some minor property damage occurring. The tide gauge at Indian River Inlet reached 5.31 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Dewey Beach reached 4.42 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at South Bethany Beach reached 3.85 feet MLLW, and the tide gauge at Fenwick Island reached 3.61 feet MLLW.

Wider weather episode

An area of low pressure moved just to the west of Delaware, with onshore easterly flow pushing water towards the New Jersey coast and back bay communities. This resulted in Moderate Tidal Flooding along the southern Delaware coast.
