Drought conditions from September continued into October, with portions of Western Kentucky along the Tennessee border from Fulton to Elkton remaining in D2 (Severe Drought) status in early October. Drought onset began with a very dry August and first half of September, with a rainy late September. The Southern Pennyrile area received decent rainfall a week into the month, improving drought in that area, with the Purchase area improving to D1 (Moderate Drought) by mid-month. Harvest season was ongoing, resulting in limited additional agricultural impacts for Western Kentucky.
