Montana mesonet station Dog Gun Lake E measured sustained winds, averaged over 85 minutes, of 51 mph.

Upper level ridging building in behind a departing trough was quickly broken down by another trough diving southeastward from BC/vicinity. Increased mid level flow through the night combined with a building pressure gradient to result in brief instances of strong winds/gusts.
