A boundary stretching east from a surface low pressure system in northwest North Dakota combined with the northern tip of a low level jet to produce thunderstorms over north central North Dakota. Some of these storms became severe producing large hail. The largest hail was two inches in diameter, and fell near Granville in McHenry County.
