The Foster Flat RAWS measured a wind gust of 54 knots, originating from an outflow of a nearby thunderstorm.

On July 29th, southwest flow aloft worked to advect mid-level moisture across eastern Oregon. During the afternoon, an embedded shortwave in the flow allowed for scattered thunderstorms to develop. The afternoon Boise sounding showed a dry boundary layer, allowing for the possibility of severe wind gusts.
