Event narrative
A 24-year-old male was swept away from the waterfall pool known as Infinity Pool in El Yunque by a surge of water, fell from a height of 80 feet and died. He was with three other people who are safe.
Wider weather episode
Tropical moisture associated with a tropical wave and other trade wind perturbations, along with an upper-level trough resulted in the formation of strong showers and thunderstorms. These showers resulted in flooding, landslide and wind damage along portions of eastern, northern and western Puerto Rico.
