The Burro Mountain RAWS recorded a peak gust of 69 mph.

A broad upper trough was moving through the Rockies with southeast winds at the surface bringing a return to some late monsoonal moisture. Southwest winds aloft combined with the southeast surface winds provided plenty of wind shear and the moisture the instability to produce some severe thunderstorms.
