Event narrative
A business on the corner of Oak Hill Rd and Lynch Rd had both sides of a small sign blown out by thunderstorm winds as storms tracked across Vanderburgh County.
Wider weather episode
A slow moving cold frontal boundary entered into the Quad State on the 12th. Showers and thunderstorms formed on the south side of the front and moved eastward through the region during the afternoon and early evening hours. Afternoon storms produced severe wind gusts from straight-line winds, while a sub-severe 55mph wind gust was also observed at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. MLCAPE was around 2000J/kg, DCAPE was 1100J/kg, and effective bulk shear was 25kts.
